Saltcoats

Saltcoats, the beautiful “Laketown”, is a community of 500 people, located 27 km southeast of Yorkton on Highway 16, along the shore of Anderson Lake. The town provides a center for the surrounding farming community.

Saltcoats was settled over 100 years ago by immigrants of mainly Scottish ancestry and have had many noteworthy residents including the first Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the NWT, William Eakin, to our former Lieutenant Governor, Gordon Barnhart.

Saltcoats School students are fortunate to have a skating rink, as well as a curling rink across the street. Many winter sports activities revolve around these two centres.
